Resolve To Be Decisive This Year

By Cheryl Bailey Leave a Comment

resolve to be decisive

Are you decisive?

As we’re coming to the close of 2012 at Wedding Industry Rescue I’ve begun to review our client files from the year in an effort to better serve them (and all new clients) in the coming year. I was looking for some common concerns that wedding and event professionals share so we can help them more quickly overcome these hurdles. But an interesting thing happened as I was reviewing each file. I started to think about each individual person and their successes throughout the past year and we noticed a common theme. The people that were the most decisive were often the most successful. The clients that made decisions quickly and moved forward with their ideas saw greater success than those that had to “think about it” for longer periods of time before deciding what to do.

Let me give you one example. I was coaching an event planner from Atlanta, Georgia that came to me in bad shape. She had no business identity, her website was a mess – hadn’t been updated in years and wasn’t able to be viewed on a smart phone, and she was turning down (yes, turning down!) business because she was insecure about her abilities. If she didn’t make some changes soon, she would be out of business in a hurry. After our first hour and a half on the phone she had a plan of action of what to do to move forward in her business. Now it was up to her.

The next day I got a call from one of the web design companies that I recommend and they were asking me questions about her because she had just hired them to build her a new website. Wow! She had hung up the phone with me and called them immediately. Within hours she had gone from lost to found! There was a huge transformation in her business this past year and she is doing very well now. Her great year didn’t happen by accident. She sought help and took immediate action. There was no stalling on her part. She didn’t spend a week thinking on what she was going to do. We put together a plan of action for her and she acted on the plan.

As we move into the beginning of another year I urge you to move forward with decisiveness. Make a plan for what you’re going to change or do in the new year and start immediately on your plan. It’s not going to work if you delay.
